What is a Pivot Door?

A design forward entry door that rotates on a pivot point rather than traditionally swinging when opened and closed. Ideal for larger openings, pivot doors can be engineered to taller and wider dimensions resulting in the unbounded spatial impact of a single door.

The location and position of the pivot hinge allows pivots doors to be heavier than traditional entry doors. Pivot door hinges are installed/fitted on the top and bottom of the door, instead of the side of the door. A traditional entry door is hung on standard butt hinges or concealed hinges attached to one side of the frame/jamb therefore too much weight or door width can cause the entry door to sag. The weight of a pivot door is much better distributed; the weight is distributed through the pivot hinge and into the floor without putting any strain on the fasteners or frame/jamb.

The pivot door rotates on a vertical axis, the pivot door movement is visually very different from a traditional entry door. Typically, we install the pivot hinge at 20% of the door width from the edge of the door. This 20% section will in for an outswing door and out for and inswing door, providing this unique aesthetic visual.
